Getting Started

The App

Where Do I Get It?

Tidal Sleep is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone, with a companion app for Apple Watch. The download link will appear on this site the day it is released.

What Does It Need?

An iPhone running a current version of iOS. An Apple Watch is optional: it adds wrist taps for slow breathing, the dim night screen and the gentle alarm. Sleep stages come from Apple Health, so any device that writes sleep there works.

Do I Need an Account?

No. There is nothing to sign up for and no password to remember. Everything is stored on your iPhone and Apple Watch.

How Much Does It Cost?

Tidal Sleep is free, with no ads and no subscription. If that changes for any future feature, it will be optional and clearly marked.

Your Sleep Data

Wearables and Apple Health

My Nights Are Not Showing

Open the iPhone Settings app, choose Health, then Data Access and Devices, then Tidal Sleep, and check that Sleep is switched on. Apple Watch sleep tracking must also be on in the Watch app, under Sleep.

Oura, WHOOP or Withings?

At launch they share sleep through Apple Health: turn on Apple Health in each maker’s own app. Direct links for readiness and recovery are planned for a later update. See Wearables for what each device shares.

A Night Is Wrong

Open the night and mark the time you were really awake, or add a missed night by hand. Wearable sleep stages are estimates, so a wrong night is not unusual.

Export or Delete

Every night, note and dream recording can be exported as CSV or PDF from Settings in the app. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored; what you allowed into Apple Health stays there under your control.

Contact

Email support@tidalsleep.app with your iPhone model and the version of iOS, and what you expected to happen. Please do not send sleep data or dream journal entries: we do not need them and would rather not hold them.

Tidal Sleep is a wellness app, not a medical service. If you are worried about your sleep or your health, please speak to your GP. The Safety page lists the signs that should not wait.
