Wearables

Any Tracker. One Calm View.

Apple Watch, Oura, Garmin, WHOOP, the Withings mat under your mattress, or nothing at all. Tidal Sleep reads what you already record, quietly, and turns it into a tide chart and an evening plan. At launch everything comes through Apple Health, so nothing leaves your phone. Direct links to Oura, Withings and WHOOP follow in an update, and the aim is to connect to every sleep device that lets us.

At Launch

What Each Device Shares Through Apple Health

Each device decides what it writes to Apple Health. Here is what Tidal Sleep can use from each, without any extra account.

Based on what each company and its users report as of November 2026. Device makers change what they share, and the app shows whatever is available. RingConn, Amazfit, Polar and others that write sleep to Apple Health work the same way. Withings users: the mat’s sleep often fails to reach Apple Health, which is why the direct link matters.

Coming in an Update

Direct Links for Oura, Withings and WHOOP

Each company’s own data service adds the parts Apple Health misses: Oura readiness and recommended bedtime, Withings snoring and breathing data with proper stages, WHOOP sleep stages and recovery. Polar is next in line. Linking will always be optional.

Step 1You choose to link

In settings, tap Oura or WHOOP. Nothing happens until you do.

Step 2Sign in with them

You log in on Oura’s or WHOOP’s own page and pick exactly what to share. We never see your password.

Step 3Data goes to your phone

A small UK-hosted service holds the link key, encrypted, and passes your data straight to your phone. It does not keep your sleep data.

Any timeUnlink

One tap in the app, or from your Oura or WHOOP account. The key is deleted.

Why a server at all? Oura, Withings and WHOOP require the secret part of the link to be held on a server, not in an app. We keep that server as small as possible, in a UK data centre. Oura users need an active Oura Membership for third-party access.

Not on the list: Garmin’s cloud programme is closed to new apps for now (Apple Health covers Garmin well), Fitbit’s old API has been switched off while Google builds its replacement, and Samsung, Eight Sleep and most smart mattresses offer no way in. We will add any device that opens a door.

No Wearable?

Phone Mode, on the Roadmap

If you track nothing, you will still get the wind-downs, sounds, night mode, dreams and the evening tide table, plus a simple in-bed and wake log. A phone-on-the-bedside mode is planned for an update: the microphone estimates sleep, wake, restlessness, snoring and coughing, all processed on the phone, with no audio kept unless you ask. We will be honest that it cannot see sleep stages and that a wearable does better.

How We Use It

Context, Not a Verdict

Trends Over Weeks

Wearables are good at telling sleep from wake but only moderately accurate at stages, so the app looks at patterns across weeks rather than grading one night.

Your Evening, Adjusted

After a short or broken night, or a low readiness or recovery score where available, tonight’s wind-down suggestion is longer and gentler.

Alongside Apple’s Sleep Score

Apple Watch now gives a nightly Sleep Score. Tidal Sleep does not compete with it. We focus on regularity and the evening before, and you can hide all numbers if you prefer.

No Diagnosis, Ever

We do not analyse breathing for sleep apnoea or flag medical problems. If you have been told you stop breathing at night, or you are always tired in the day, please see your GP. Some Apple Watch models have their own sleep apnoea notifications.
